Board Members

Karen Garrett, President 2010-2011, Vice President 2008-2009, Secretary, 2005-2007
Karen was born and raised in Ontario on the eastern side of Oregon and Idaho border.  She moved to Vancouver 16 years ago. Her interest in social work started in Jr. High and continued on through college.  She was a Social work trainee for the State of Idaho for two years.  She had her own caseload of seniors at a local nursing home and enjoyed working with them. She graduated with an AA degree in Psychology and Sociology.  Many years later, she returned to college and received her Family Studies Bachelor degree from Western Baptist College in 2000.  She worked at Fort Vancouver Convalescence Center in Vancouver, Gateway Care and Retirement, and Holladay Park Plaza before acquiring her current position of Director of Social Services at Evergreen Portland Health & Rehab.

Caitlin Byers, Treasurer 2009-2011
Caitlin grew up in Eastern Oregon and earned a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Speech Pathology from University of Oregon in 2006. She worked part-time as a server at a retirement home while attending school. This experience sparked her desire to continue working with older adults. She was a social worker at West Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center in SW Portland for three years.

Amie Clark, Webmaster 2011, Past Consulting President 2010-2011, President 2008-2009, Vice President 2006-2007,  Administrative Assistant 2004- 2005
Amie has worked with seniors in many capacities throughout her career. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Montana, and has maintained a focus on elder care since. As a social worker, she has broad experience working as a Long Term Care Ombudsman, Meals on Wheels Case Manager, Social Services Director, and business owner. She currently owns and operates her referral and case management service for seniors, The Senior Resource Network and The Senior List.com, a site for consumers to submit feedback about senior-related businesses. Amie has always loved working with seniors and finds the best reward in knowing she has enhanced someone’s life by being a small part of it.
